EV roaming pilot coming to New Zealand as ChargeNet, Z Energy and OpenLoop partner up for 2024 trial project

OpenLoop has today announced the launch of an EV charging roaming trial, with support from Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA). The project aims to develop and trial EV-roaming capability between the three EV charging networks, which would enable EV drivers to charge at any of three networks from their choice of account.

Our electric vehicle charging ecosystem OpenLoop is a core part of this collaboration as the DER aggregator, consolidating access to multiple EV chargers through a customer facing agency. As a company it will allow us to focus on developing capabilities that unlock flexibility services from aggregators.

OpenLoop now offers Pay-as-you-go for seamless charging on public chargers

Customer will no longer need to top-up their balances, making it easier for customers to charge with ease. The pay-as-you-go feature requires a credit card to be saved on a customer’s account before charging with the new payment function pay-as-you-go.
